Deciphering the Role of the Microbiome in

Autoimmune Thyroid & Ocular Disease

May 2018

1. Giulia Masetti, one of the indigo secondees, is currently working with Cultech, one of the indigo partners. The bioinformatics expertise for microbiome analysis Giulia acquired during the project is proving to be most valuable to other projects that Cultech are involved in. Giulia also made an oral presentation of her results comparing the microbiome in a mouse model of Graves’ orbitopathy generated in two independent centres at the British Thyroid Association meeting in Birmingham.

2. Filippo Biscarini, an indigo senior recruited fellow, has completed his year at Cardiff University. He made an oral presentation of the miRNA and proteomics work at the European Congress of Endocrinology in Barcelona.

Cardiff, UK April 21-22, 2016

INDIGO (Investigation of Novel biomarkers and Definition of the role of the microbiome in Graves Orbitopathy) and EUGOGO (EUropean Group of Graves’ Orbitopathy) are coming together during April 2016 in Cardiff for the first joint symposium of the 2 groups.

The meeting is a rare opportunity to bring together an international panel of speakers from the thyroid autoimmunity and ophthalmology communities in addition to experts on the microbiome to discuss new concepts on the origins of Graves’ disease and orbitopathy.

The meeting has been endorsed by the British Thyroid Association.
